Bio

Vivek Gurumurthy is the senior vice president and CIO of Verizon’s Global Technology Solutions Consumer unit. His team is responsible for design, development and management of Systems of Insight, Systems of Engagement, Systems of Record and Customer Experiences along with security and governance for the over 1500 employees.

Prior to his current position, he was vice president of IT Operations and Billing, and responsible for design, development and implementation of the Billing platforms for Verizon Consumer Markets and Verizon Wireless customers. In this role, he built a common team and a billing platform that served both Wireless and Wireline customers and migrated all the Fios customers to the platform as part of the Order To Bill Transformation (OrBiT) program. Most recently, he led the transformation of the wireless billing platforms to reduce costs, increase speed to market and enable the digital experience for Wireless customers.

In prior positions, since joining GTE in 1998, Vivek was responsible for implementing back office solutions, launching the Verizon.com eCommerce platforms and building and scaling the Fios OSS/BSS since its launch in 2004.

Vivek is also an active leader in the South Asian community. Besides being a Verizon leader in the Verizon employee resource group SPICE (South Asian Professionals Inspiring Corporate Excellence), Vivek actively engages in community events. He is a mentor to several employees in Verizon and is constantly engaged in developing strong, talented individuals who can strengthen the business.

Vivek is a recipient of multiple awards, the most recent one being the CIO – Ones to Watch in 2018.

Vivek earned his Graduate degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University and lives in the Princeton, New Jersey area with his wife and 2 children.
